COVID safe nose

​COVID-19 brought many changes in my life, and Bree decided to play her part in being COVID safe.

Bree never ceases to amaze me….

We can all agree that the last few years have certainly been a challenge. As a person living with disability, the changes were big and profound. I never realised how much I rely on my hands to touch things. As you lose a sense, such as sight, other senses ramp up and you become more sensitive with hearing, smell and especially touch.
 
I don’t have sensitive skin, but constant use of hand sanitiser made my hands very dry and sore. I’m sure a lot of you can relate. It was interesting how every organisation or commercial venue you went into, hand cleansing was significantly different. Some places had automatic ones where you wave your hand over the bottom and a blob squirts out, some had a pump, and a few had nothing at all. I carried a small tube in my backpack all the time and would use that most of the time.
 
I had to go to an appointment at the hospital a while back. After navigating the complex procedure of putting on a mask, I had the cheek to ask if Bree could have one. Obviously, the person distributing masks was stressed out and didn’t see the humour in my request.
 
Before entering the consulting room, I was informed by the stressed-out mask person that there was an automatic hand sanitiser to the left of the door. By telepathy or some other form, Bree managed to find it for me. I waved my hand below and a blob fell on my hand.
 
I was in the process of rubbing my hand when I heard the automatic dispenser going crazy. I looked down and noticed Bree had her nose buried in the hand section, busy licking the blobs which was constantly flowing out of the machine.

So, what did I learn?

I learnt that guide dogs are law abiding creatures and will do absolutely anything to remain COVID safe.
